A World We Dare To Imagine Pt. 3
As mentioned in my last post, I think there is a huge disparity between African American children and young adults in low-income areas similar to the neighborhood surrounding USC. Thankfully, I was born into a family that had the privilege of offering extensive and quality education to me, but many others are born into broken families and gang violence. To decrease young children's and adults’ dependency on family gang ties, I want to create an after-school program for children and adults in low-income areas. SecondHome will be a non-profit organization offering students a safe space to study, relax, and feel protected. The facility will be equipt with quiet spaces for students to focus on their schoolwork, free resources such as tutoring, mental health counseling, and even a place for these young adults to sleep.
