Book 2 Post 1
I am reading In Deep Shift: Riding the Waves of Change to Find Peace, Fulfillment, and Freedom by Valerie Gangas. I chose to read this book because I am currently experiencing a “deep shift” in my life. To Valerie Gangas, a deep shift means when your life becomes overturned unexpectedly. This “deep shift” can come in the form of a world-shaking event or something as intimate as a broken relationship, falling in love, a medical emergency, or personal loss―leaving you feeling profoundly struck and unsure of what to do next.
When I first delved into this book on navigating myself during a "deep shift," I was immediately intrigued. However, it has offered me much more than I anticipated. So far, I have gained valuable insights on how to shift my perspective and view my life's circumstances through a different lens. Even when emotionally impacted by a challenging situation, I can now make sense of it and find meaning within it. This book has taught me that crises can serve as a gateway to expanding consciousness and discovering newfound freedom within my emotions.
I am still in Part One: Okay WTF Is Going On, which talks about the initial experience of a “deep shift” and how to make sense of your new reality. I love how Valerie Gangas shares her personal journey through the stages of deep shift and how she coped during the difficult time of her mother's passing. Through her honest and vulnerable storytelling, the reader is able to relate to her and understand the raw emotions she experienced during some of the darkest moments of her life. In addition, she talks about how the Bible and utilizing meditation helped her put her life and emotions in perspective. At first, I was skeptical about meditating and how it could affect my outlook on life. However, she started talking about approaching meditation as a practice that can transform someone's consciousness to establish a spiritual edge for themselves. She is able to offer the reader specific anecdotes on how she utilized meditation to her benefit, which continues to enhance her credibility. I find her approach to meditation refreshing and inspiring, as she shares practical tips on how to incorporate this practice into everyday life.
As I keep reading, I am excited to learn more about how to incorporate her tips into my outlook on life and how to be the master of my emotions, even in hectic times.
